<B>1856 1C PR62 PCGS.</B></I> Snow-9. A short die line from the right top of I in UNITED to the border instantly identifies the Snow-9 die marriage, considered a proof-only die combination and the variety usually seen. This piece is a fully struck representative with olive-tan color and a few tiny splashes of steel toning, although little proof surface remains.<BR> In his <I>Complete Encyclopedia,</B></I> Walter Breen recorded the mintage of this issue as "634+" pieces, an inexplicable quantity as his introductory remarks mention that one collector, George W. Rice, owned 756 different pieces.
