1856 1C PR45 PCGS. Snow-9. Reasonably sharply struck for the type, with several minor rim dings noted on the obverse. Even golden-brown coloration covers the lightly circulated surfaces. Moderate highpoint wear and a handful of small abrasions, on each side, confirm the PCGS grade assessment.
First year of the Flying Eagle design and, although technically a pattern, 1856 cents have long been collected as a part of the Flying Eagle and Indian cent series. Breen estimates that 634 or more were struck of all varieties, while the Guide Book shows an approximate mintage of 2,000 pieces. In either case, very few 1856 cents were struck and today examples are highly prized by collectors in all grades.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
