1856 1/2 C PR65 Brown NGC. B-3, R.4. The Philadelphia
1856<1/2 C> PR65 Brown NGC. B-3, R.4. The Philadelphia Mint produced approximately 200 proof half cents in 1856. Perhaps as many as 60 of the survivors are of the present die variety, which is identifiable by recutting on the T of CENT and a tiny spot of die rust on the I of UNITED. This needle-sharp specimen has rich, deep electric-blue hues overall. Due to the depth of the toning, there are no singularly mentionable marks or flaws, and the technical grade is limited only by the faintest hairlines in the fields. EAC PR60+. Census: 3 in 65, 1 finer (7/06).
