1856 1/2 C PR64 Brown NGC. B-1, R.7 as
1856<1/2 C> PR64 Brown NGC. B-1, R.7 as a proof. Rust pit on the I of UNITED. Most 1856 proof half cents have a different reverse with doubled ENT. Faded mint red remains but the surfaces have mostly taken on a deep-brown and steel-blue patination. The fields are still deeply reflective, though. A lintmark (as struck) extends from beneath the second S in STATES to the wreath. One tiny blemish can be used for future identification: it is located on the top of Liberty's nose, and connects the nose and the eyebrow. Other than this single small handling mark, the coin seems to be free of post-strike limitations. EAC PR60.
