<B>1855-S $3 AU55 PCGS.</B></I> Of the 6,000 San Francisco three dollar coins minted in 1855, relatively few are known today, especially in XF and higher grades, resulting, at least in part, from having seen extensive service in the channels of commerce, especially on the West coast. The Choice AU specimen we offer here displays honey-gold color with subtle hints of underlying red. The design features are well impressed, indeed better than is often seen for the issue. Some wispy hairlines are noted on Liberty's cheek and in the fields under magnification, as is a minute mark on the chin and another to the right of the last 5 in the date.
