<B>1855-O $20 XF45 PCGS.</B></I> Minted at a time when few (if any) collectors bothered to look for mintmarks on coins, it is unsurprising that the 1855-O issue, made to the extent of only 8,000 pieces, today is rare. More than 364,000 pieces were made of its P-mint counterpart, and the S-mint emission was nearly 900,000 coins. Although not in the same league as the 1854-O and 1856-O issues, the 1855-O is a rarity in its own right; Garrett-Guth estimate that fewer than 100 pieces survive. The present example boasts attractive, deep orange-gold surfaces with the few light abrasions expected for the grade. The surprisingly abundant luster is a bonus.
