<B>1855 H10C Arrows PR66 Cameo NGC.</B></I> Prior to 1858, demand for proof coinage in this country was limited to only a handful of collectors and unofficial production of these special strikings rarely exceeded a few dozen coins. It is doubtful that more than 15-20 proofs from this year survive, and its significance is heightened by the fact that the 1855 is one of just two collectible years of the Arrows half dime type in proof format. This glittering, untoned specimen benefits from glassy, mirrored fields and generally razor sharp devices that provide ample contrast. Only a few of the obverse stars are characteristically soft.
