1855 G$1 Type Two MS64 PCGS. This beautiful near-Gem is an incredibly scarce and desirable example of the short-lived Type Two design, the scarcest gold type coin of the Longacre era. Brilliant cartwheel luster radiates from the near-pristine, shimmery surfaces. The color is a pretty, original honey-gold. The strike is enormously pleasing, with excellent definition on the headdress tips, the peripheral legends, and the wreath. Only the two L's in DOLLAR and the 8 in the date show singular weakness. Both sides are boldly clashed, as is characteristic for the type. This coin would fit quite nicely into a Gem gold type set (and not require upgrading) at a fraction of the price.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
