1855 G$1 MS64 NGC. Garrett and Guth (2006) note for this issue: "Many are seen softly struck, especially in the central portions of the reverse, and extensive die clashing is not unusual." The pattern holds true for this example, which displays shallow detail on the L's of DOLLAR and the 8 in the date, as well as much of an outline of Liberty's head within the wreath. A touch of die erosion on that side also hints at extended die use, the reason for this example's delightful luster. The attractive luster enhances the visual impact of the piece's warm orange-gold surfaces, which have hints of lemon-yellow and rose color. An attractive example of this noted type issue, one that displays beautifully with considerably above-average eye appeal for the obverse. NGC has graded 44 pieces as Gem or better (5/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
