1855 G$1 MS63 PCGS. This is the second year of the brief small Indian Head coinage, issued from 1854 through 1856. In fact both of those two years were transitional years, the 1854 gold dollar coinage being known from the Type One and Type Two designs, and the 1856 coinage representing the Type Two and Type Three designs. Among these three years, it was only in 1855 that all gold dollars were the same design. This is a splendid example with highly lustrous yellow-gold color and hints of honey-gold toning. The surfaces are excellent although a few faint scratches are apparent on the reverse. This is a typical example in that both the obverse and the reverse have prominent clash marks. A delightful example that will nicely fill the date or type collectors needs. Lot:7492
