1855-D $2 1/2 XF45 PCGS. Variety 18-L. The 1855-D is second in overall rarity and first in condition rarity of the 20 issues in the series of Dahlonega quarter eagles. Only 1,123 pieces were struck. In addition to its status as an absolute rarity, the '55-D is a poorly struck issue, usually seen with heavily abraded surfaces. Only 45-55 pieces are known. This is a pleasing XF coin with one exception: a Mint-made planchet lamination that extends from the obverse rim at 8 o'clock almost to Liberty's ear. Otherwise, the surfaces are free from any distracting marks. The striking details are weak as usual, with die crumbling seen on the denticles on each side.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
