1855-C $2 1/2 MS60 NGC. Winter 16-I. The elusive 1855-C quarter eagle is tied for first in overall rarity among Charlotte issues. Its mintage figure of 3,677 pieces is second-lowest in the series among C-mints behind only the 1843-C Small Date, and it has also gained the reputation as being one of the worst produced issues from the Charlotte Mint. All in all, the strike on this bright yellow-gold example is much above average, although being noticeably deficient on the lower portion of the eagle. Numerous shallow abrasions in the fields are the most obvious deterrent to a higher Mint State rating. Census: 2 in 60, 8 finer (11/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
