<B>1855-C $2 1/2 AU53 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 16-I. This low-mintage issue has sufficient value and a small enough actual population that resubmissions play havoc with the grading services' numbers. Regardless, the 1855-C quarter eagle is known as one of the scarcest such pieces of Charlotte gold, though its comparative rarity actually drops in higher grades. This well struck amber-gold example sports partially prooflike fields and well struck devices that have light highpoint wear. Minimally abraded and highly appealing.
