1855 $3 MS63 PCGS. When Mint State three dollar gold pieces are offered, they are most likely dated 1854, 1874, or 1878, the three common dates in this denomination. Any other date, including this 1855, is seldom seen in any Mint State grade. Although more than 50,000 of these coins were struck, they are still elusive. The Smithsonian Institution, for example, has five different examples and the finest is just AU58. This frosty Mint State piece has rich yellow-gold color with hints of green and full, unbroken luster. The surfaces have the usual tiny abrasions, consistent with the grade. Slight design weakness is evident on both sides. Population: 43 in 63, 18 finer (10/06).

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
