<B>1855 $3 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> The 50,555 pieces struck for this second-year issue were a steep drop from the mintages the previous year, and though the three dollar denomination subsisted for 35 years, it never played an active role in America's economy. This lovely example is unworn with subtly lustrous yellow-gold surfaces. The obverse is lightly abraded, but the reverse is more appealing with less frequent marks. Both sides exhibit a typical strike with generally strong details, although the ribbon bow is rather indistinct.<BR><BR><B>Coin Engraver:</B> James B.
