1855 $3 MS62 ANACS. Although the 1855 is considered a common date, it is far more elusive in Mint State grades than the common dates of 1854 and 1878. The mintage was 50,555 coins, less than half of the previous year but still the third highest production total of any single year in the entire series. Apparently the entire mintage was accomplished with a single die pair, and all business strikes have a short spine from the lower left curve of the second 5 in the date. This example is a delightful Mint State piece with brilliant yellow and orange-gold color over satiny surfaces that exhibit slight reflectivity.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
