Well struck on the obverse, especially on the rims and dentils, with just the final three of the peripheral stars showing weakness. The reverse is likewise well defined around the edges, but the eagle shows typical mushiness. A few abrasions and numerous small planchet flaws and laminations are noted on each side, along with a few die lumps and nicks along the rim. Faint tooling marks are evident in the left obverse field. This is a scarce issue from the final year of the Wass Molitor company, which was the last private mint still operating in San Francisco after the establishment there of the Western U.S. branch mint.
