<B>1855 $2 1/2 MS64 PCGS.</B></I> While relatively available in the lower grades of Uncirculated (for a quarter eagle from the 1850s), the availability of the 1855 thins out noticeably at the MS64 level. Only 10 other pieces have been so graded by PCGS and 19 coins have been certified as MS64 by NGC with a combined 11 pieces finer at both services (4/07). This is a lovely coin and one that strongly suggests a full MS65 grade. The surfaces are softly frosted and there are no reportable abrasions on either side. The obverse is several shades lighter in hue than the reverse, which has a pronounced reddish color.
