<B>1855 $10 Wass Molitor Ten Dollar--Rim Filed, Improperly Cleaned--NCS. Unc Details.</B></I> K-6, High R.5. At one time, this variety was considered R.7 with fewer than a dozen known, but after discovery of the treasure from the <I>S.S. Central America,</B></I> the rarity dropped dramatically. Although the surfaces are abraded, there is no indication of wear on this lovely piece. A few moderate surface marks are visible, and light rim filing is evident, perhaps to smooth out a small rim bruise. A small circular area at the last 5 in the date represents an alteration of the obverse die used to strike this piece.
