1855 $10 Wass Molitor Ten Dollar MS60 NGC. K-6, High R.5. A frosty Mint State piece with excellent central design elements and brilliant yellow-gold luster with a hint of greenish patina on both sides. The peripheral details are weakly defined as usual for the issue. The final digit of the date rests on a small circle, where a die leftover from 1852 was repaired. The final digit was drilled out of the die, it was plugged, and a new digit, a 5, was punched on top. That die was then put back in service to coin a limited quantity of 1855 Wass-Molitor eagles. Listed on page 361 of the 2008 Guide Book.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
