1855 $10 Wass Molitor Ten Dollar AU53 PCGS.<p>Ex: S.S. Central America. K-6, R.7. An important representative of the "plugged" variety, so named because the previously dated 1852 die was reworked over the final digit for use with the 1855 delivery. This is an interesting coin from the standpoint of striking quality. The central obverse is sharp (well, relatively), but the periphery is noticeable soft. The reverse is sufficiently bold in all areas save for over a few of the peripheral letters and the olive branch. The surfaces exhibit hints of a semi-prooflike finish despite a lightly rubbed and scuffy outward appearance. Accompanied by a deluxe presentation box, and listed on page 297 of the 2002 Guide Book. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium.
