1797<1C> Reverse of 1797, Stems. S-135, B-5, High R.3. AU58 NGC. XF45 EAC. Die State II. Probably another Nichols Find coin that saw some light cabinet friction during its long life after the horde's dispersal in 1863, for there is light rub showing on the cheek. Beautifully centered on a lovely milk chocolate-brown planchet with some faded mint red, with complete dentilation on both sides but softly struck in the centers. A wispy reverse die crack runs from the adjacent leaf to the left base of the I in AMERICA. Examination with a glass reveals a light round planchet depression between OF and A. An appealing specimen of this eighteenth-century cent.
Ex: George Ramont. Envelope Included.
