<B>1854-S $10 XF45 NGC.</B></I> In its first year of operation, the San Francisco Mint struck all gold denominations in 1854, with the sole exception of the three dollar piece. The half eagles and quarter eagles are extremely rare, but the 1854-S eagle is the most available S-mint issue of the denomination prior to 1879.
