1854-O $3 AU55 NGC. The three dollar gold denomination began with a certain amount of fanfare, being struck at three different mints in its initial year - Philadelphia, Dahlonega, and New Orleans - along with the fledgling San Francisco facility which began production the following year. Today, gold collectors covet both of the branch mint issues from 1854 as the acceptance of the three dollar gold piece was so dismal that they were never again minted in the South. Like many O-mint survivors, this still-lustrous example exhibits distinct yellow-gold color and a bit of striking weakness over the central devices.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
