<B>1854-O $3 AU53 NGC.</B></I> Douglas Winter comments in <I>Gold Coins of the New Orleans Mint</B></I> concerning the 1854-O that "Most are well worn and show poor strikes. The majority have been cleaned and show unappealing color and dull luster." This coin shows a fairly typical strike for the issue, with weakness around several of the obverse peripheral letters, as well as on the reverse at 85 and the O mintmark.
