1854 N-27 R3 MS62Lustrous light olive and bluish steel brown with 10% of the planchet showing mint red. This cent has great eye appeal and it looks choice, but there are a few small contact marks on the obverse. The notable defects are a shallow low spot on the neck up to the bottom of the jawline, a few tiny nicks over the right side of the eye, a pair of thin nicks near star 2, and a small rim nick right of star 8. None of these marks catch your eye. EDS, die state a. The small dash over the 8 is clear and the short spur at the top of the inner hair bun has not formed. Fine mostly vertical die polishing lines cover the fields on the reverse. A nice example of a rare die state. Tied for CC#5 of the variety in the Grellman census.Certificate Number: Pedigree: From the Fred H. Borcherdt Collection
