1854 N-26 R3+ MS63+
1854 N-26 R3+ MS63+. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown and light olive with more than two-thirds of the mint color showing on both sides. Sharply struck offering great eye appeal for the grade, very close to MS64. Just a few trivial defects, including a horizontal nick at the throat, a tiny scuff just off the bust tip, a trio of very light nicks on the rim under the 54, and a small spot of dark toning over the O in ONE. MDS, die state a. The fields are covered with extremely fine flowlines but all the tiny lines and points of the early state remain visible. (There is no state b for this variety as the die marriage ended before any significant changes occurred to either of the dies.) Tied for CC#2 in the Grellman census.
Estimated Value $600-UP.
