1854 N-16 R3+ Repunched 1 MS60Lustrous light steel brown with golden tan in protected areas on the reverse. The fields are satiny and this cent has very nice eye appeal. Would rate a slightly higher grade but there are some tiny pinpricks on the forehead and a hairline scratch right of star 3. A small planchet flake hangs down from the earlobe (as struck) and a spot of dark olive toning rests on the right side of the ear. Sharp EDS, die state a. The die lines are crisp and the repunching over the left base of the 1 is clear. Tied for CC#4 overall but finest known of the scarce early die state. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS64BN (NGC label #1647872-016 included, and it shows the attribution).Certificate Number: Pedigree: Ex David Stark 11/1990-J. R. "Bob" Grellman, Jr.-R. S.
