<B>1854 G$1 Type Two AU58 NGC.</B></I> The initial Type One gold dollars, measuring only 13 mm wide, were easily confused with the small silver coins (such as the three cent silver and half dime) in circulation at that time. Accordingly, the Type Two gold dollars were redesigned on larger 15-mm planchets.
