1854 E1C One Cent, Judd-159, Pollock-186, High R.7, PR63 Brown PCGS. The obverse of this small cent die was created by a portrait lathe that used an 1854 silver dollar as a model. The portrait lathe caused many circular die lines, and the design is blurry. Notably, the 4 in the date resembles a 1. On the well-made reverse die, 1 CENT is encircled by an oak and acorn wreath. Struck in copper with a plain edge. This was a widely produced pattern that included piece struck in at least three varieties of German silver, copper-nickel alloy, a 78% silver piece, die struck copper pieces as well as electrotypes. This is a die struck example in copper. Weakly struck, as always, with considerable red remaining on the obverse and deep brown and blue patina over the reverse.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
