<B>1854-D $5 Large D MS64 NGC.</B></I> Variety 31-X. The 1854-D half eagle is one of the most often seen issues from the Georgia Mint. However, even this issue is seldom encountered in Choice Mint State grade. The surfaces have frosty and fully brilliant yellow-gold luster with minimal marks on either side. Although it is not fully struck, most of the design features are sharper than usual. The curls just below the coronet are a trifle weak, as are the lower parts of the reverse, including the eagle's claws and the arrow feather above. A fine die crack crosses the right reverse field from the wing to IC of AMERICA.
