<B>1854-D<$5> Large D AU58 NGC.</B></I> Variety 31-X. An example of one of the more commonly encountered Dahlonega half eagles, this piece is exceptionally bright and lustrous. The somewhat glossy appearance suggests possible immersion in seawater. The obverse central details, the eagle's neck, and the eagle's lower parts are ill-defined, which is typical for this issue. Light hairlines and small abrasions are noted in the fields.
