<B>1854-D $5 Large D AU50 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 30-W. Although the 1854-D half eagle is considered common by specialists of the series, only 173 have been graded by PCGS in all grades. Experts believe that fewer than 250 1854-D half eagles are extant in all grades, with less than 20 in full mint condition. The PCGS <I>Population Report</B></I> echoes this sentiment, showing only 22 examples recorded above the AU58 level, although that number is certainly skewed by resubmissions.
