Half Dollars 1854 Arrows. NGC graded Mint State 64. <b>Once the "rays" portion of the Arrows and Rays 1853 half dollars was seen to be superfluous (and detrimental to die life) the mint removed them from the reverses in 1854 and 1855, leaving the two arrows at the side of the date so signify these pieces as falling under then new 192-grain weight standard. The present offering is supremely beautiful, bathed as it is in satiny frost. From center to periphery, high points to low, throughout the design and spreading across the open field, it glows with uncommon originality. A slight amount of toning has enveloped the obverse and reverse, like the early morning mist, but leaving the serene beauty of the design and shimmering luster plain for all to see. The stars are full and sharp, as is Liberty's hair, her gown, the foot and sandal straps; the shield she is supporting jumps out in bold relief when viewed under a magnifier -- which we encourage all attendees to the sale to do. In fact, view every one of these remarkable seated halves and seated quarter and you will realize what a challenge it was for our consignor to assemble this collection.</b> Light clash marks on either side. A few short die breaks seen, including one from the left arrowhead to the rocky mount on which Liberty sits, another from rim to her toe, and yet another crack faintly delineated from the rim to the 11th star. <p align="center">Superior Galleries was founded in 1929 and has been a leader in
