1854 Imprint: “The Landmark of Freedom.” Charles Sumner’s Speech “Against the Repeal of the Missouri Prohibition of Slavery,” Territories of Nebraska & Kansas
February 21, 1854-Dated, Anti-Slavery Imprint titled, “The Landmark of Freedom.”, by Charles Sumner, published by Jewett and Company Boston, and Cleveland, Ohio, Very Fine.
An 1854 original period printing of a long historic Speech, “Against the Repeal of the Missouri Prohibition of Slavery North of 36 deg. 30 min. - IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES,” of Hon. Charles Sumner, 5.25” x 8”, 72 pages, disbound, no covers, nice and clean with solid spine. A great Black History piece where Senator Sumner also speaks passionately against allowing Slavery in the newly established Territories of Nebraska and Kansas. Scarce, and a wonderful read.
