1854 50C Arrows MS63 PCGS. A sharply st
1854<50C> Arrows MS63 PCGS. A sharply struck example of this short-lived type that is minimally abraded. Minor die clash marks are evident in the fields, and spindly die cracks occur near the obverse and reverse periphery. Olive-gray toning dominates over both sides, and faint rose accents are noted in the obverse fields. After the initial year of production in 1853 with the Arrows and Rays motif used to signify a reduction in weight on quarters and halves, the rays were dropped from the reverse in 1854 but the arrows were retained on the obverse through 1855, making this a highly desirable item for type collectors. Population: 20 in 63, 46 finer (1/06).
