<B>1854 $3 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> This is the first year that three dollar gold pieces were issued, with a healthy mintage of 138,618 business strikes, the highest for the series. PCGS and NGC have certified a few thousand coins, most of which are in the About Uncirculated to Mint State 64 range. The current MS62 specimen displays pretty peach-gold color and well impressed motifs. The luster is nearly full, interrupted only in a few areas by fine hairlines.
