<B>1854 $20 Small Date AU55 PCGS.</B></I> Ex: <I>S.S. Central America.</B></I> SSCA 6719. The majority of double eagles recovered from this famous shipwreck were 1857-S, and most of the remainder were San Francisco issues from one or two years prior. Only 20 1854 twenties were salvaged, and probably fewer have retained the SSCA pedigree. The base of the 1 is lightly repunched. An attractive piece that retains strong luster.
