1854 10C Arrows PR65 Cameo NGC. Stark white and frosty 1854[10C] Arrows PR65 Cameo NGC.
1854<10C> Arrows PR65 Cameo NGC. Stark white and frosty on the devices, with the mirror fields wonderfully intact. The actual mintage was not reported but was apparently quite small. A total of 20 pieces are reported in the NGC and PCGS Population Reports, and importantly just two are noted as Cameos, and no Deep Cameos are reported. It is very likely that the present coin was one of the very first struck when the dies retained their maximum frost on the devices. The more highly contrasted coins are always in the strongest demand, and this Gem will certainly attract the attention it is due. No signs of toning are found, and this coin is probably as bright as the day it was coined. Examination will discover the extensive wire rims around both sides, and faint die polish lines graze the fields as always seen on these early Proofs. For identification purposes there is a tiny speck on the reverse before the word OF and a similar speck on the top left touching the uppermost leaf in the wreath, just behind the point. Diagnostic die lumps appear on the letters of ONE. PCGS has not graded any coins of this date finer than PR65, and NGC reports in their Census one finer as PR66, and another as PR66 Cameo both of which are technically finer than the present example. Certainly a prize for the advanced specialist, and a coin worthy of any collection.
