1853 Same obverse die, heavily rusted and cracked; CALIFORNIA GOLD HALF D, 12 berries on each branch of wreath, all paired except top left, between A G. Attributed to Deriberpie (and associates?). Very Rare. Bright gold color, planchet cracked through. PCGS Genuine (Planchet Flaw -- AU Details). The pronounced planchet flaw--a crack seen in two places--well illustrates the difficulty of making perfect tin planchets for these coins in the 1850s. Little or no wear on the obverse with poor strike/die reverse. Serial# 26703350 Totheroh Collection HKA#63569
