Quarter Eagles 1853 SEGS graded Mint State 65. <b>Boasting a full quotient of satiny gold luster, this leaves an indelible impression on the studied mind of the collector with its pristine originality, its very sharp strike. The design, from Liberty and stars to eagle and legends is extraordinary for its depth and detail. Even the rims with their tiny dentils shows that it was sharply impressed. The quarter eagle with Liberty wearing a coronet appears first in 1840. Production continued straight through to 1907, with no stops in-between no skips in the date run. 1853 is a relatively affordable year, mintage being high for its day, although as most everyone realizes there weren't any collectors around back then.
