1853 N-14 R2+ Repunched 1 MS60. Frosty steel brown with light bluish steel overtones and 5-10% of the original mint red remaining. There are a few microscopic specks of darker toning around the L in LIBERTY, a few more at the top of the inner hairbun, and a small carbon spot at the dentils below star 1. A thin struck-through line extends down in the field just off the chin, as struck. Rare LDS, die state e, with a rim cud extending from the top of star 10 down past star 12 nearly halfway to star 13. Plated in the 2001 edition of the Grellman book to illustrate the die state. Tied for CC#12 overall in the Grellman census but second finest of the late die state. Removed from a PCGS slab graded MS63RB (PCGS label included). DWH #2187.
