1853 Similar obverse, 3rd star close to tip of nose, upper part of head weak; 8 directly below 1st L on reverse. Extremely Rare: 12 recorded specimens in second edition of Breen-Gillio (probably including duplicates), none reported since. Flashy and brilliant, perhaps downgraded by PCGS because of weakness on hair and coronet, which is characteristic of this variety. PCGS AU58. Ex Kagin’s A.N.A. Milwaukee 8/8/1986, Lot 3515. The weakness of strike extends to the top half of the coin - the lower half has sharp details, especially the hairlines and stars, thus Totheroh`s grade of uncirculated. Serial# 26703056 Totheroh Collection HKA#63486
