1853 G$1 MS67 PCGS. The design elements are remarkably well struck on both sides of this lovely little jewel. Even LA in DOLLAR is nearly completely formed. Gleaming mint frost illuminates the yellow-gold surfaces, that reveal fine-grain field textures and near-perfect preservation. As Garrett and Guth observe, in their Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins (2006), the 1853 is by far the most common date in gold dollar series. In Superb Gem condition, however, the issue becomes exceedingly scarce, and very few have been so graded by the two major services. It seems like a foregone conclusion that such a pleasing, high grade specimen will generate considerable attention when it crosses the auction block.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
