1853 E1C One Cent, Judd-149, 150, 151, Pollock-178, R.5--Damaged--ANACS. AU Details, Net XF40. The obverse is the same as that used to coin regular issue 1853 Quarter Eagles. The reverse shows the denomination ONE CENT within a laurel wreath. Struck in either a German silver alloy (Judd-149 and Judd-150) or a nickel alloy (Judd-151) with a reeded edge. A metallurgical analysis is necessary to determine the exact Judd variety of this coin. Rich steel-gray color overlays both sides, and there is little evidence of wear. A rim ding on the obverse below the date, some spots around the obverse periphery, a few scrapes in the field before Liberty's face, and scattered reverse rim dings are noted.
