1853 Same head, 11 stars around, D below, 8th star touches upper roll of bun; same reverse die. The first issue signed by Deriberpie. Very Rare: 13 examples listed in Breen-Gillio, including one in the Smithsonian Institution, one plugged, and another ex bezel; a 14th, also ex-jewelry, was sold on eBay 9/14/2006, and this coin may represent a 15th (probably some duplication). Very presentable; frosty gold color, very light cleaning, if any. PCGS Genuine (Cleaning -- UNC Details). An exceptionally rare coin with light cloth wipe marks below chin. Other coins in this collection with similar light marks were graded in mint state, and this coin might rank among the best. Serial# 26703355 Totheroh Collection HKA#63575
