<B>1853-D G$1 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 5-G, the only known variety for this date. An impressive example of this scarce Dahlonega Mint issue, this piece has partially reflective surfaces with rich green and orange-gold surfaces. The devices are a trifle weak on the highest design points, as usual for this issue. The mintage of this date was a mere 6,583 coins, and few of those have survived. This is a rare date in all grades, particularly in Mint State. PCGS has certified 83 examples of this issue in all grades, but just 11 of those have been certified as MS60 or finer.
