1853 25C Arrows and Rays MS65 PCGS. Larry Briggs comments in The Comprehensive Encyclopedia of United States Liberty Seated Quarters concerning this issue, "One could spend a lifetime, perhaps two, studying this year alone, as 119 obverse and 120 reverse dies were made for usage. ... This year in general comes in all terms of striking quality from poor to very sharply struck. Extremely common in all grades except UNC. All UNC.'s seen are very frosty." The population data for this issue corroborate Briggs' assertion, as a surprisingly low 15 coins make the Gem cut at PCGS, with 24 at NGC--those out of a mintage exceeding 15 million pieces! The present example is one of the better struck, high grade survivors with good definition throughout. A short grease stain protrudes from the back of Liberty's neck and serves as an unmistakable identifier for this coin. A frosty and attractive piece with no mentionable color. Population: 15 in 65, 7 finer (2/07).
From The Palakika Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
