1853 25C Arrows and Rays MS64 PCGS. After passage
1853 25C Arrows and Rays MS64 PCGS. After passage of the Mint Act in February, arrowheads were added to each side of the date in 1853 to denote a weight change from 6.68 grams to 6.22 grams. Rays were also added to the reverse of the Quarter and Half Dollar, but for just this one year, creating a very popular one-year type coin. This is a fully struck example whose satiny surfaces are overlaid by an even layer of gray toning with a streaky layer of tan color at the center of the obverse. Problem-free and quite pleasing overall. Very difficult in finer grades. Population: 135 in 64, 24 finer (11/04).
