<B>1853 $20 Assay Office Twenty Dollar, 900 Thous. MS60 NGC.</B></I> K-18, R.2. A remarkable 2.5 million pieces were produced of this variety in a short seven-month period in 1853. Most were obviously melted at some later date; however, this piece was remarkably well preserved over the past century and a half. Well struck in the centers, the green-gold surfaces have taken on a light golden patina that is most attractive. Lightly abraded throughout with a couple of rim bruises and nicks on the obverse that limit the grade.
